where is Argentina on the map?


Argentina is located in southern South America. Where is Argentina on the map? It borders with Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, with Chile and the Atlantic Ocean to the south, with Brazil, Uruguay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east and with Chile to the west. Where is Argentina on the map? Argentina is located south of the Equator and west to the Greenwich meridian. It has an area of nearly 3.8 million km2 and its mainland stretches from the Andes in the west to the Atlantic Ocean in the east.
It is the second largest country in the region and seventh in the Americas. It is divided into 23 provinces and its capital is Buenos Aires, located in the east, bordering the Río de la Plata.
Argentina has 40 million inhabitants and most of the population lives in cities. In addition to Buenos Aires, other important cities are: Córdoba, Rosario, La Plata, Mendoza, San Miguel de Tucuman and Mar del Plata.
The Argentina claims sovereignty over part of Antarctica and also claims sovereignty over the Falklands islands, South Georgia Islands and South Sandwich, which are under British occupation.
Argentina's name comes from the Latin argentum, meaning silver.
Argentina offers all the sights for tourists: jungles, forests, beaches, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, glaciers, deserts and multicolored hills. It has a vast plain called the pampas and the highest mountain in the Americas, which is the Aconcagua, of 6959 meters, located in the province of Mendoza.
Argentina's population is European in origin; an estimated 97% of the people are of European extraction, mainly Spanish and Italian. Also, there is an indigenous minority. The official language is Spanish. There are also indigenous people who speak the Araucanian and Mapuche.
The currency of Argentina is the peso. One peso is 3.85 U.S. dollars, approximately.
