Google Argentina

Google came to Argentina in April 2007. The company chose the country as a base of operation for the Latin American market. The office was the third regional headquarters of the company. Before this move, the firm had its headquarters in Mountain View, in the United States, and in Dublin, Ireland. Everyone was surprised that the company had chosen Argentina instead of Brazil, a major South American power.

Google Argentina opened its offices in Buenos Aires, in Puerto Madero, one of the newest and most luxurious neighborhoods of the city. Everything was very fast and there were no ads in the newspaper to look for employees.

Why Argentina? Gonzalo Alonso, director of Google for Hispanic markets in Latin America, said at that time: "We chose the country for its entrepreneurship spirit, for its talented people and for the large number of ISPs and telecomms providers ".

In addition, 80% of the searches performed by Internet users in Argentina are made through the Google search engine.

Google Argentina grew steadily. It started with one employee and now employs about 100 people. To find a job in Google you have to go to www.google.com.ar / jobs. There are always new positions. They look for translators, specialists in selling products, people with editorial experience and expertise in product. The candidates should have a university degree and good knowledge of languages (mainly English).

The selection process of the company is hard: there are interviews with local and regional peers and also with managers. The atmosphere is very dynamic and the work is based on achieving goals. It is important to have passion, teamwork and also enjoy your work.

Google Argentina office has 3,000 square meters. It has a playstation room with a ping pong table, and also a candy store. The atmosphere is relaxed and people dress informally. But anyway, the work is demanding.
