What is Argentina?


Argentina is a country located at the southern tip of South America, between latitudes 22° and 55° south and meridians 54° and 74° west. It borders Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay and is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean. It has 4,700 kilometers of coastline.

The Argentine continental territory extends longitudinally between the Andes and the Atlantic Ocean and is characterized by the variety of physical landscapes.

What is Argentina? Argentina is a vast country of 3761.274 Km², which has everything for the tourist: from colorful and arid mountains in the north, to lakes, glaciers and majestic mountains in southern Patagonia. It also has an outstanding rainforest in the province of Misiones where the famous Iguazú Falls are.

Argentina is divided into 23 provinces and its capital is Buenos Aires, a cosmopolitan city that combines European traditions with a Latin American spirit. Buenos Aires is located on the right bank of the Rio de la Plata and has 3 million inhabitants. You will need at least three day to get around the city. Buenos Aires is a must if you visit Argentina.

Other major cities are: Córdoba, Rosario, La Plata, Mendoza, San Juan, San Miguel de Tucumán, Mar del Plata, Salta and Bahía Blanca.

What is Argentina? Argentina is a South American country known for its open, friendly and affectionate inhabitants. 97% of people are white, mostly descendants of Spanish, Italian and German, which contrasts with the demographic composition of most South American countries. Most people in Argentina live in large cities, situated on the coast and in temperate and fertile interior of the country. It is a Country of contrasts. There are unpopulated areas such as Patagonia and other hyper-populated as the province of Buenos Aires, which is one of the largest cities in the world.

The official language is Spanish and the currency is the peso. One peso is 3.85 american dollars.
