MSN Argentina

The Windows Live Messenger from Microsoft, known popularly as the "MSN", is the most preferred application to chat in Argentina. It is used by nine out of 10 Internet users, according to data from the consulting firm Price & Cooke. The Msn Argentina has 12.5 million users (the country's population is 40 million) that send 432 million messages per day. Among those using the Messenger, 50% are women and 50% are male and they chat more than 80 million hours a month. Furthermore a Messenger user has more than 150 contacts / friends on your list.

In Argentina there are more MSN users than telephone lines.

In Argentina Skype is used occasionally to communicate with people from other countries or to play online games. Argentines use msn on a daily basis. In fact, most users who connect to the Internet use this application.

Why Argentines use msn? Argentines like to talk with several friends at the same time, and for this purpose, MSN is much more practical than Skype. In addition to talk trough Skype you need to use a microphone and with MSN you only need the computer.

In 2009, MSN users increased because Microsoft chose Argentina to be the first country to incorporate text messages in Windows Live Messenger. Since last year, MSN users can be connected through the mobile phone and chat with friends without having to connect to the Internet.

"We chose Argentina for the high use of the service, combined with the high penetration and usage of Windows Live Messenger on the PC," said David Castiglioni, general manager of Microsoft Online Services for Latin America

"With Windows Live Messenger SMS we hope to expand the use of the Windows Live network in Argentina to cover the 40 million GSM cellular technology that exists today in the country" said Diego reffined Mallo, Mobile Services Manager at Microsoft.
