Buenos Aires Curise Port

Buenos Aires has become a major destination for international cruise lines. The Buenos Aires Cruise Port, Benito Quinquela Martin, opened in 2001 and is named in honor of the famous Argentine painter.

Cruises depart and arrive in Buenos Aires with a frequency sustained throughout the summer. The season begins in April and ends in November.

The terminal is located very close to downtown. Buses and taxis depart from the port permanently. The taxis are paid in pesos, but U.S. dollars are accepted. We recommend taking a taxi or a bus from the port to get to your destination, because the streets around the port area are not very safe.

The Buenos Aires Cruise Port is 7100 square meters, has a pre boarding room for 1,000 passengers and baggage sleeves with a capacity of 2,500 bags. It also has a terminal tourist information booth, shops, restaurants, and a parking lot for buses and remises.

Nowadays the terminal is being renovated. The work will be completed in November 2010 to provide better services to more than 300 thousand cruise guests that are expected to arrive in Buenos Aires this summer.

Since the opening of the terminal in 2001, the number of passengers has increased beyond expectations, from the 60,000 tourists who arrived that year to the 310,000 expected for this season. The facilities can receive 8,000 passengers a day and will increase to 12,000 with the reforms.

The boats have also increased in proportion while small ships have given way progressively to larger vessels.
